Winger Alex Nimo Opts For Liberia Over United States

U.S based player Alex NimoLiberian born Alexander Nimo has finally decided to feature for his native land Liberia after capping for both the United States of America Under-17 and Under-20 national teams since 2006.

Nimo is part of the cream of foreign stars invited to strengthen the capacity of the Lone Star as they get engaged this weekend in two different fixtures.

Liberia will face the Cape Verde Island and Cote d’Ivoire in two away fixtures this weekend in the qualification rounds of the 2012 African Cup of Nations and the London 2012 Olympic Games.

“It is pleasant to be part of the Under-23 squad and to contribute my portion to the country and the Liberian people, so it is wonderful coming to play for Liberia,” Nimo told Goal.com.

He said choosing Liberia over the United States was a decision he made and he believes it can payoff well for the future.

Nimo told Goal.com that his mission is to see Liberia at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and it would be a proud moment for him to play at the event.

“I have come to play for the Olympic team to see whether we can make it to London and it would be a delight to play at the Games if we qualify,” he stated.

The 21-year-old bagged 16 caps and six caps for the United States Under-17 and Under-20 teams respectively from the period of 2006 to 2009.
